Just one day per year, is that really enough
To mark an occasion that shows how we love
Our mothers who work through the day and the night,
Doing for us all the things that are right?
The name is adored and honoured through time,
Centuries past it was meant as a sign
To return to your roots with gifts and great cheer
To your mother you love, so precious and dear.
But times have moved on and traditions they change
You may not return though your love stays the same.
So give her a hug and show her you care
For one day you know, she’ll no longer be there.
For all mothers around the world, one day is not enough to tell you how special you are and even though there are times when we drive each other mad with fustration and anger, a mother has value that can never be truly measured.
a joyful affirmation
I am glad you enjoyed my Mothering Sunday poem, thank you for reading it.
